The post-tensioned strands in cylinder shape concrete structures such as tunnels, shafts and manhole concrete linings, water tanks, concrete pipes, PCCP pipes, cylinder shape towers or buildings or any other similar structures provides pre-stress in the circumference of the mentioned structures and therefore improving quality by increasing strength and reducing cracks in the concrete. The method involves inserting strand through the preliminary embedded duct/sheath in the concrete (precast/ cast in situ) and then tensioning the strand by jack and fastening it. Post tensioning by strands of lining reduces the steel reinforcement or fiber volume and/or thickness of the concrete structure which would result in reducing the manufacturing cost of them. It would reduce cracking and improve water tightness and would provide smooth intrados due to eliminated bolts joints in the tunnel segmental lining.
