PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an impact caused by the mutual collision of seedling boxes during conveyance to reduce the deformation and damage of the seedling boxes.SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter 1 includes a seedling placing base 14, and a seedling box conveying path 7 including a switch-back zone 7a provided behind the rear end of the seedling placing base 14 with a clearance and switching back the seedling boxes N supplied from the seedling placing base 14 to convey them to a seedling push-out apparatus 6. The seedling transplanter 1 also includes a first seedling box sensor LS4 disposed in a position slightly shifted downstream in the seedling box conveying path 7 relative to the lower end position of the seedling box N when detached from the rear end of the seedling placing base 14 and shifted onto the switch-back zone 7a, and a second seedling box sensor LS5 disposed in front of the seedling push-out apparatus 6. When the first seedling box sensor LS4 detects passing of the preceding seedling box N, the succeeding seedling box N on the seedling placing base 14 is supplied to the switch-back zone 7a to stand by there.
