PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical insect capturing apparatus having a simple structure though being free from deterioration of performance of the apparatus.SOLUTION: The insect capturing apparatus 1 includes a light source 3 for attracting insects 2, an insect attraction box 4 having the light source 3, an insect capturing box 5 connected to the insect attraction box 4 and holding the insects 2, and a fan 6 for sucking the insect 2 from the insect attraction box 4 into the insect capturing box 5. The insect capturing apparatus 1 further includes imaging means 9 as a detector for detecting the number of the insects 2 in the insect attraction box 4 or the sizes of the individual insects, and a controller 10 for controlling the rotational speed of the fan 6 according to the detection result of the detector.
