The invention refers to a method of treating thready materials, especially useful for medical uses, such as production of sutures and the like. The method essentially consists in impregnating a thread of fibres with a solution of collagen containing an antiseptic component consisting of a nanodispersion of bentonite powders modified by intercalation of ions of Ag+ and/or Cu2+ and successively drying. The amount of said metals in the bentonite powder is of 2-8% by weight. The ratio between the ions of Ag+ and Cu2+, when both present, is of 1 : (0,3-0,5). The threads obtained have prolonged antimicrobic properties versus a wide spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms and a decreased toxicity. Moreover they have improved absorpion capacity.Linvention concerne un procédé de traitement de matières filiformes destinées en particulier à des utilisations médicales, notamment pour produire des sutures ou analogues. Ce procédé consiste essentiellement à imprégner un fil constitué de fibres dune solution de collagène contenant un constituant antiseptique constitué dune nanodispersion de poudres de bentonite modifiées par intercalage dions Ag+ et/ou Cu2+ et par séchage successif. La quantité des métaux présents dans la poudre de bentonite est comprise entre 2 et 8% en poids. Le rapport entre les ions Ag+ et Cu2+, lorsquils sont tous les deux présents, est de 1 : (0,3 à 0,5). Les fils obtenus présentent des propriétés antimicrobiennes prolongées par rapport à un large spectre de micro-organismes gram-positifs et gram-négatifs et une toxicité diminuée. En outre, ils présentent une capacité dabsorption accrue.
