PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image photographing system enabling control so as to properly perform photographing even in a state that a CR cassette and an FPD cassette are together provided and photographing is performed in FPD type photographing by a synchronous system or a non-synchronous system.SOLUTION: The exposure illumination control means 58 of the radiation image photographing system 50 controls a radiation generator 57 so as to permit the emission of radiation from a radiation source 52 on the basis of the irradiation start signal from an exposure illumination switch 56 in a case that a CR system is set by a changeover means 58 and also controls so as to permit the emission of radiation from the radiation source 52 on the basis of the irradiation start signal from the exposure illumination switch 56 corresponding to whether the FPD cassette 1F is used according to the synchronous system or the non-synchronous system in a case that the FPD system is set by the changeover means 58.
