The plant protection is provided by a net (2), which is held above the plants (3), by means of a linear element (4), which is constructed in the net, and is formed as a narrow strip of plastic material. During the manufacture of this strip of plastic, it has incorporated into it, a pigment, which gives it a uniform reflective property, which enables the strip to reflect evenly in all directions. The plastics material is a high density polymer and the pigment is formed from aluminium, which is incorporated into the plastics at a proportion of the order of five parts per hundred by weight. An anti-UV product is also incorporated into the net to prolong the life of the material.
