PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for double bearing reel which can make braking force stably act on a spool.SOLUTION: A braking device 9 for double bearing reel comprises a spool braking unit 11 and a spool control unit 13. The spool braking unit 11 brakes a spool 7 by electromagnetic induction during feeding of a fishing line. The spool control unit 13 turns on/off a current generated by electromagnetic induction in prescribed first and second periods TP1, TP2, thus controlling the braking force of the spool brake part 11. The spool control unit 13 has a period changing unit 116.
