A fluid delivery system for a dental cleaning appliance includes a nozzle 36 for delivering a burst of working fluid to the teeth of a user, and a fluid conduit 130 for conveying working fluid to the nozzle 36. A body of the nozzle 36 defines a fluid chamber 152 and a channel 154 for conveying working fluid from the fluid chamber 152 to a fluid outlet 42 from the nozzle. The fluid chamber 152 has an angled inlet 150 for receiving working fluid from the fluid conduit 130. More particularly, the inlet 150 may be tangential to the chamber 152, such that working fluid entering the chamber 152 gains angular momentum.
