A method of mounting a total knee prosthesis such that parts of implants femoral (2) and tibial, called common (3,4,5,161) are each capable of being fixed respectively in a femur and a tibia of a knee, and one chooses to mount on these common parts, in a modular manner and respectively for each implant, interchangeable parts depending on the type of prosthesis that one wants to get, some (7, 81) for a first so-called postero-stabilization mounting configuration, and the others (9,82) for a second so-called rotary pivot mounting configuration. Procédé de montage d'une prothèse totale du genou tel qu'on assemble des parties d'implants fémoral (2) et tibial, dites communes (3,4,5,161) aptes à être fixées chacune respectivement dans un fémur et un tibia d'un genou, et on choisit de monter sur ces parties communes, d'une manière modulable et respectivement pour chaque implant, des parties interchangeables en fonction du type de prothèse que l'on veut obtenir, les unes (7, 8 ) pour une première configuration de montage dite de postéro-stabilisation, et les autres (9,8 ) pour une deuxième configuration de montage dite de pivot rotatoire.
