Protease variants having amino acid substitutions at positions 62, 212, 230, 232, 252, or 257 of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subtilisin are new. A protease variant (A) comprises replacing an amino acid at one or more residue positions corresponding to residue positions selected from 62, 212, 230, 232, 252 and 257 of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subtilisin.
