A pet food product comprises a first and second layer 101, 102. Each layer 101, 102 comprises a plurality of holes 112-116 provided in the respective surface. Each hole 112-116 extends at least halfway through the thickness of the respective layer 101, 102. Each layer 101, 102 also comprises a plurality of protrusions 118-122 extending from the respective surface. The holes 112-116 and protrusions 118-122 of each layer 101, 102 interlock. The layers 101, 102 may be of different hardness. The holes 112-116 may be through holes. The layers 101, 102 may be of equal thickness and substantially the same size and shape. The interlocking nature of the layers increases the resistance to delamination while the pet food product is being masticated.
