A skin external composition characterized by comprising the following components: (A) an ester compound having a hydroxyl value of 10 or more and less than 200 (B) one or more oils selected from the group consisting of an ester compound having a hydroxyl value of less than 10, a hydrocarbon oil and silicone oil (C) a water-soluble thickener and (D) water. According to the present invention, a skin external composition, said skin external composition having good moisturizing properties, being capable of improving skin smoothness and making the skin gloss, and, when applied to the skin, providing a rich feeling on the skin with little stickiness and yet tightly sticking to fingers, can be provided.Linvention concerne une composition externe cutanée caractérisée en ce quelle comprend les composants suivants: (A) un composé dester ayant un indice dhydroxyle de 10 ou plus et de moins de 200 (B) une ou plusieurs huiles choisies dans le groupe constitué dun composé dester ayant un indice dhydroxyle de moins de 10, une huile hydrocarbonée et une huile siliconée (C) un épaississant soluble dans leau et (D) de leau.
