Disclosed herein is a Janus particle comprising: a core inorganic photocatalytic particle having a surface with a first region and a second region and an average diameter of from 50 nm to 10 nm； and a low surface energy organic coating that is susceptible to photo-degradation, which coating is covalently bound to the surface of the core inorganic photocatalytic particle where present.
