An apparatus and a method for removing epithelium from the cornea include a fluid agent for facilitating de-epithelialization of the cornea. A disc includes a biocompatible material operable for covering a predetermined zone of a cornea. The disc is hydrated by the fluid agent, wherein the hydrated disc is pliable for conforming to a surface of the cornea. An application of the hydrated disc to the cornea substantially constrains the fluid agent to the determined zone and softens a corneal epithelium enabling de lamination of the epithelium from an underlying stroma.Linvention concerne un appareil et un procédé pour le retrait dépithélium de la cornée qui comprend un agent fluide facilitant la dé-épithélialisation de la cornée. Linvention utilise un disque qui comprend un matériau biocompatible servant à recouvrir une zone prédéfinie de la cornée. Le disque utilisé est hydraté par lagent fluide, le disque hydraté devenant ainsi flexible en vue de se conformer à une surface de la cornée. Selon linvention, lapplication du disque hydraté sur la cornée permet de maintenir sensiblement lagent fluide dans la zone définie et de ramollir lépithélium cornéen, ce qui permet de décoller lépithélium dun stroma sous-jacent.
