PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and systems to verify a communication path between a field device and a process controller in a process control system. SOLUTION: A command signal is transmitted from a verification controller to a first portion associated with one of the field device or the process controller via a first wireless communication path. In response to receiving the command signal in the first portion, a verification signal is transmitted from the first portion to a second portion associated with the other one of the field device or the process controller via a first wired communication path. In response to receiving the verification signal in the second portion, a reception signal is transmitted from the second portion to the verification controller via a second wireless communication path and in response to receiving the verification signal in the verification controller, the communication path between the field device and the process controller is verified.
