Radiation protector (1) for protecting a thyroidof a person from x-ray radiation comprising a shield pad (11) for shielding the thyroid to be protected, in which the shield pad comprises a layer of shield material for attenuating the flux of an electromagnetic radiation and a fastener (10) for fastening the shield pad in abutting engagement with the thyroid to be protected. The fastener comprises a resilient U-shaped bracket (10) having a first end (18) which is connected to the shield pad (11) and a second end (19) which is situated opposite the first end (18) for engaging an area opposed the thyroid to be protected, such that in use the thyroid to be protected is situated in between the two ends (18,19) of the bracket (10) when the radiation protector (1) is clamped to the thyroid.
