The disclosure relates to alkylamidothiazoles of the formula (I), wherein X, Y, R1 and R2 are as defined in the specification. The disclose also relates to cosmetic or dermatological preparations having an effective content of one or more alkylamidothiazoles, as well as the use thereof for the cosmetic or dermatological treatment and/or prophylaxis of undesired skin pigmentation.
