The invention relates to a method for the sowing of single seeds, especially of sugar-beet, by means of single-seed sowing devices, in which, for seedbed preparation, the soil is first loosened deeper than the sowing depth and the soil loosened too deeply is subsequently reconsolidated. According to the invention, the reconsolidation of the soil takes place only after the seed has been deposited. For this, there is used an appliance which consists of a single-seed sowing device connected to a traction vehicle so as to be capable of swinging up and down, with a seed deposit formed from a seed supply container and cellular wheel, there being arranged, according to the invention, behind the seed deposit of the sowing device (3) a pressure roller (9) which reconsolidates the soil and which presses the seed into the soil. <IMAGE>
