Processing of farmyard slurry, product of which is useful as soil improver or fertilizer, comprises flocculation, sedimentation and conversion of sludge into solid cake
Processing of farmyard slurry comprises separating coarse solids, treating the filtrate with a flocculant, separating the mixture into a sedimented sludge and a supernatant liquid, and converting the sludge into a solid cake. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Farmyard slurry processing equipment comprising: (a) a station for separating coarse solids with a filtrate outlet; (b) a sedimentation-flocculation reactor with inlets for filtrate and flocculant, a sedimentation-flocculation chamber, an overflow weir and outlets for sedimented sludge and supernatant liquid; and (c) a filter press for the sludge. (2) Farmyard slurry solids cake produced as above, to which a hygroscopic material is optionally added; (3) Farmyard slurry solids cake comprising farmyard slurry solids, a biodegradable flocculant and urea.
