PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand rim which can effectively rotate the main wheel of a wheelchair, and to provide a wheelchair in which the hand rim is installed on the main wheel.SOLUTION: An annular hand rim 400 to be installed on the main wheel for a wheelchair is equipped with an outer peripheral surface 401 in which a plurality of first curved surfaces 402 are formed in a rippled shape continuously in the peripheral direction. The hand rim is characterized in that the radius of curvature R1 of the first curved surfaces 402 and the distance d1 between the centers of adjoining valley parts 402a are so prescribed that, when a seated person operates the hand rim, the thenar of the palm is fitted to the valley parts 402a of the first curved surfaces 402.
