The image object may include a representation of the instrument 3 or an in-vivo image 40 acquired using the instrument 3. This system comprises an extracorporeal image acquisition device 1 that acquires an extracorporeal image relating to an extracorporeal image frame, and a tracking device 2 that tracks the instrument 3 relative to the tracking frame independently of the extracorporeal image.
