The present invention relates to a method for insulating and waterproofing a rooftop, which comprises: at least one watertight container which is attached to a roof floor with certain standards and stores water therein； an awning attached to a roof railing which prevents water from flowing into a gap between the watertight container and the roof railing and induces water into the watertight container； an upper drainpipe and a lower drainpipe for discharging water to the outside of a building when water equal to or more than a storage capacity of the watertight container is introduced； a watertight seal installed to prevent water from entering a connection portion between the watertight containers； a non-woven fabric which is attached to an upper portion of the watertight container and prevents foreign materials from entering the watertight container by having a filtering function； and soil which is laid on the non-woven fabric and used in greening a rooftop.옥상단열 및 방수하는 방법에 있어서 일정한 규격을 가지고 옥상바닥에 부착되어 물이 저장되는 적어도 한 개 이상으로 구성된 수밀용기와 상기 수밀용기와 옥상난간 사이의 틈에 물이 유입되지 않도록 하며 상기 수밀용기로 유도되도록 옥상난간에 부착된 차양과 상기 수밀용기의 저수량 이상으로 물이 유입될 경우 건물 외부로 물을 배출시키는 상부 배수관과 하부 배수관과 상기 수밀용기 간 연결부에 유입되는 물을 막기 위해 설치되는 수밀패킹과 상기 수밀용기 상부에 부착되고 필터 기능을 가져 이물질이 수밀용기로 유입되는 것을 막는 부직포 및 상기 부직포 위에 깔려 옥상녹화에 이용되는 토사를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
