Viewing the front surface sheet (2) in cross-section, the fiber basis weight of wall sections (21W) is greater than the fiber basis weight of the top sections (21T) of the skin-side protrusions (21) and the top sections (22T) of the non-skin-side protrusions (22). The absorbent body (4) is formed from a layered body of absorbent sheets and has slits (43). The slits (43) penetrate one layer of the layered body.
