The present invention provides an X-ray apparatus for providing an enhanced image in which contrast is enhanced according to an enhanced parameter that is determined by separating materials, and a control method thereof. The X-ray apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an image separation unit for separating an X-ray image of an object into a plurality of material images a parameter determination unit for checking the width of an interest material from the material images, and determining an enhanced parameter for enhancing contrast of the interest material according to the width of the interest material and an image enhancement unit for separating the X-ray image into a plurality of detailed images having space frequency of different bands, enhancing each of the detailed images according to the enhanced parameter, and generating an enhanced image by combining the enhanced detailed images.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016물질 분리를 통해 결정되는 증강 파라미터에 따라 대조도가 증강된 증강 영상을 제공하는 엑스선 장치 및 그 제어방법을 제공한다.일 실시예에 따른 엑스선 장치는, 대상체의 엑스선 영상을 복수의 물질 영상으로 분리하는 영상 분리부 상기 복수의 물질 영상으로부터 관심 물질의 폭을 확인하고, 상기 관심 물질의 폭에 따라 상기 관심 물질의 대조도를 증강시키기 위한 증강 파라미터를 결정하는 파라미터 결정부 및 상기 엑스선 영상을 서로 다른 대역의 공간 주파수를 갖는 복수의 세부 영상으로 분리하고, 상기 복수의 세부 영상 각각을 상기 증강 파라미터에 따라 증강시키고, 상기 증강된 세부 영상을 합하여 증강 영상을 생성하는 영상 증강부 를 포함할 수 있다.
