The invention relates to a method for operating an agricultural system having a tractor (1); a plow (2) coupled to a tractor (1) by means of a coupling device (20); working tools (23) mounted on the plow frame (2); copying wheel (10b, 22) of the depth regulator, adjustable in height relative to the frame; an upper link (10a, 21) connected to the frame for lifting the frame; and a control system provided for at least one of the tractor (1) and the plow (2). The method includes operating the plow (2) in the normal mode, when the plow (2) is moved with a tractor (1) across the field, and the working tools (23) of the plow (2) are engaged with the soil in normal operation; supplying a request signal to the control system, the request signal indicating a request to start a work control mode on a headland; and, in response to the request signal, starting the headland operation control mode. The headland operation control mode comprises supplying control signals to the control system (9), the control signals setting a sequence of positions both for the upper link (10a, 21) and for the trailing wheel (10b, 22) of the depth regulator, while the sequence of positions includes provisions related to the intermediate working position of the plow in which some of the working tools (23) are not engaged with the soil, and to the transport position of the plow in which all working tools (23) are not engaged with the soil; and operation of the upper link (10a, 21) and the gauge wheel (10b, 22) of the depth control according to the control signals when the tractor (1) with the plow (2) arrives on the headland, passes through the headland and leaves the headland.
