The present disclosure includes an immunogenic composition comprising HPV VLPs derived from one or more HPV types in combination with an adjuvant comprising a TLR agonist for use in a method for the prevention of HPV infection or disease in an individual. In the method, a first dose of an immunogenic composition comprising HPV VLP and a TLR agonist is administered, followed by an HPV VLP derived from one or more HPV types, but with a TLR. A second dose of the immunogenic composition containing no agonist is administered.
