The present invention relates to the adsorbates of carbamazepinewith enhanced aqueous solubility and process for the preparation of adsorbates of carbamazepine wherein one starts with a solution of carbamazepine in at least one organic solvent,disperses therein an adsorbing material selected from the group consisting of cellulose,cellulose derivatives, po!yols,sugars, sugar derivatives, maltodextrines,cyclodextrines,starches, polydextroses or their mixture and removes the solvent in the final step .
