PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure susceptibility using a simple method. SOLUTION: A paramagnetic or diamagnetic sample to be measured is put in a paramagnetic or diamagnetic liquid, without the sample to be measured to dissolve and has difference in the densities, with respect to the sample to be measured (where, the liquid is paramagnetic, when the sample to be measured is diamagnetic) and the magnetic field applied to the sample to be measured, and the liquid is changed, to make the sample float or settle and measured in the liquid. The magnetic flux density, at flotation or sedimentation of the sample to be measured, is measured to calculate magnetic force, and the susceptibility of the sample to be measured is measured from the value of the magnetic force.
