Corynebacterium, in which a gene encoding CoA independent succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase and a gene encoding L-lactate dehydrogenase are attenatued and method of producing C4 compounds, e.g. 4-hydroxybutyrate
A microorganism, preferably Corynebacterium, expressing a vector encoding a CoA-dependent succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase, e.g. sucD from Porphyromonas gingivalis, to efficiently produce a C4 compound, e.g. 4-hydroxybutyrate, and methods for the use thereof. The microorganism may further contain an inactivated NAD-dependent succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase and an inactivated lactate dehydrogenase and a vector encoding 4-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase.
