The invention relates to an insertion device with at least one insertion unit (2) for introducing loose articles into plate depressions (4) of flat product plates (3) or product molds. The insertion device comprises a collection chamber (12) containing the articles in a loose arrangement, a take-out device (7) for conveying the articles individually upwardly and outwardly from the collection chamber and an output unit for directing the taken-out articles downward, wherein the take-out device (7) is provided with a rotatable transfer drum (15) connected to a negative pressure source, a drum shell (41) of which extends to the collection chamber (12). The transfer drum is characterized in that the drum shell (41) has at least two rows of holes (20) arranged in parallel in the axial direction； the drum shell (41) has a cylindrical inner wall (39) and a cylindrical outer wall portion (61)； the rows of holes (20) are separately arranged in cylindrical outer wall portions (61) and recesses (60) disposed between the rows of holes (20) of the cylindrical outer wall portion (61).
