The present invention is directed to a cosmetic composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium, nanocrystalline cellulose, wherein the composition is topically applied onto the skin of a subject in need of the application to reduce the visibility of skin imperfections and/or to impart a matte effect on the skin.
