The invention relates to an intervertebral implant comprising a plate which can adopt an implantation shape in which the plate has two opposed grooves (3, 4) defined by retaining wings (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b), for accommodation of the two spines of adjacent vertebrae, or an insertion shape in which the parts of the plate forming the grooves (3, 4) have a separation (d) and, on at least one side thereof the retaining wings (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) are not present, characterised in that the implant (1) is made from a memory material such that the implant adopts the implantation shape thereof on subjection to heat and in said implantation shape the parts of the implant forming the grooves (3, 4) have a separation (D) greater than the separation value (d) of the insertion shape to guarantee the spacing of the vertebral spines.Linvention concerne un implant intervertébral comprenant une cale apte à prendre dune part, une forme dimplantation dans laquelle la cale possède deux gorges opposées (3, 4) bordées par des ailes de retenue (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) destinées à recevoir les deux apophyses épineuses de deux vertèbres et dautre part, une forme dinsertion dans laquelle les parties de limplant formant les gorges (3, 4) sont distantes dune valeur (d) et sont dépourvues sur au moins lun de leurs côtés, des ailes de retenue (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b), caractérisé en ce que limplant (1) est réalisé en un matériau à mémoire de forme de manière que limplant passe à sa forme dimplantation lorsquil est soumis à de la chaleur de manière que, dans cette forme dimplantation, les parties de limplant formant les gorges (3, 4) sont distantes dune valeur décartement (D) supérieure à la valeur (d) de la forme dinsertion, pour assurer lécartement des apophyses épineuses.
