PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating material of harmful substance which can efficiently remove heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, selenium, chromium, cesium and zinc, phosphoric acid, fluorine and the like, has satisfactory stability after heavy metal adsorption, prevents a harmful substance from being redissolved due to a change in the lapse of time and acidification and makes elaborate post-treatment unnecessary. SOLUTION: The treating material of harmful substance for adsorbing and removing the harmful substance from water containing heavy metal ions as the harmful substance is provided by carrying or hydrating one or more kinds of magnesium compounds selected from magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate and hydrotalcite onto active porous calcium silicate particles.
