PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element that offers both good antifogging and antibacterial properties, and to provide medical optical instruments having the same.SOLUTION: An optical element 1 is provided, comprising an anti-reflection film 3 formed on a substrate 2, and an anti-stain coating layer 7 made of an acrylic polymer containing at least either of an alcohol and ester laminated on top of the anti-reflection film 3. Also provided are medical optical instruments having the optical element 1.
