PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external composition containing at least one kind of acidic mucopolysaccharides and water soluble gums, in which the viscosity reduction over time is suppressed and the excellent use feeling can be maintained over a long period of time.SOLUTION: An external composition contains: (A) at least one kind of polymer selected from the group consisting of acidic mucopolysaccharides and water soluble gums (B) polyalcohol and (C) a chelate agent. In the polymer, 70% or more of the molecules have about 100 thousands to 3 millions of molecular weight by measuring the molecular weight using 2 columns coupled with each other and obtained by filling methacrylate polymer having 13 μm of a particle size in a stainless steel tube having 7.8 mm of an inner diameter and 30 cm of a length (the column has 5×10000000 of exclusion limit molecular weight, and linearity in the range of 1000 to 1000000 of molecular weight in a calibration curve using PEG and PEO).
