PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope including a main light source lamp and auxiliary light source lamps, which is excellent in illumination efficiency and where the loss of illumination light to be made incident to a light guide fiber bundle from both of the main light source lamp and the auxiliary light source lamps is extremely reduced.SOLUTION: The light source device for an endoscope includes auxiliary light source lamps 26 which are attached to a bracket 27 arranged at a position between the main light source lamp 23 and a convergence optical system 24 not to block an effective light beam bundle L1 so as to radiate an auxiliary light beam bundle L2 in a direction being nearly the same as that of a parallel light beam bundle radiated from the main light source lamp 23 along the outer edge of the effective light beam bundle L1 to be made incident to the light guide fiber bundle 13 from the main light source lamp 23.
