The device has a reference electrode terminal (RH) (30), innerpumping electrode terminal (IPE) (31), outerpumping electrode terminal (APE) (32) and measuring terminal (MES) (33) which are connected. A primary switching matrix (11) is provided in which the ground resistor (Rgnd) (64) is connected to pumping Rome source (SQ) (20), and connected to RH. The reference current source (SQr) (21) is connected with SQ, IPE, RH, APE and MES at respective switching frequency. An independent claim is included for method for controlling and evaluating exhaust gas sensor in combustion engine.
