An object of the present invention is to provide an emulsion composition for external use, which contains glycerin and can suppress an increase in viscosity due to glycerin. At least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of (A) glycerin, (B) polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether inorganic acid ester and its salt, and polyethylene glycol fatty acid ester. The emulsion composition for external use containing, and having a bicontinuous microemulsion form can suppress an increase in viscosity caused by glycerin.
