PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus capable of preventing collision of a subject and an X-ray detecting section during imaging even when the whole apparatus is downsized or abnormality has occurred in control of a turning shaft.SOLUTION: The X-ray imaging apparatus includes a turning arm 4 having an X-ray irradiation section 3 and X-ray detection section 2 opposing to each other and an arm driving section 5 suspending the turning arm 4. The X-ray imaging apparatus carries out imaging by turning the X-ray irradiation section 3 and the X-ray detection section 2 around a subject O. The arm driving section 5 includes a turning driving mechanism 14 moving horizontally, a cover 12 arranged around the turning driving mechanism, and the turning shaft 15 which passes through an opening 16 formed in a part of the cover 12 to connect the turning driving mechanism 14 to the turning arm 4 and transmits the horizontal movement of the turning driving mechanism 14 to the turning arm 4.
