The invention relates to a variant strain of Pseudomonas putida BIRD-1 with accession number CECT 7415, which variant produces at least one plant growth stimulating compound and/or solubilises insoluble phosphate and/or iron, and to methods and uses thereof. The preferred growth stimulating compound is one or more amino acids that favour phytohormone biosynthesis, enhance endurance against abiotic stress and favour nitrogen feeding in plants. The invention also relates to fertilisers, seeds, root balls, solid supports, soils or fields comprising the variant strain, and to methods and uses thereof.
