The main feed screw has a large diameter to quickly measure only 80% of the feed to be measured. The fine feed screw is operated to measure 80% of the feed to be measured at fast speeds, to measure 10% of the feed at intermediate speeds, and to measure the remaining 10% of the feed at low speeds, thereby quickly and accurately measuring the feed. Screw chambers of the main and fine feed screws are provided with doors, and the doors are closed when the measurement is stopped.
