PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on a subject in adjusting the position of a capsule when and after a capsule of a capsule endoscope with a position adjusting member is introduced into the subject.

SOLUTION: The introduction device comprises the capsule 1 with a built-in function executing means for executing a prescribed function, and an extension member 3, part of which is connected to the capsule 1. The extension member 3 extends in the direction to separate from the capsule by a prescribed length, and the cross section of the extension member is nearly rectangular. A width d1in a first direction is longer than the width d2in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction in the extension member. With this shape of the cross section, the bending resistance of the extension member 3 in the second direction is smaller than the bending resistance in the first direction. When the capsule 1 is introduced into the subject, the extension member is bent in the second direction in the pharynx region and the surface in contact with the in-vivo tissue of the pharynx region has a width d1. As a result, the pressure per area in contact on the in-vivo tissue is reduced or eliminated.
