The extracting unit extracts, from a group of volume data, reference image data corresponding to ultrasound image data displayed on a display unit. The controlling unit causes the display unit to display the ultrasound image data and the reference image data. The extracting unit obtains information about an imaging region indicated by the ultrasound image data displayed on the display unit and sets a search region for searching the reference image data from the group of volume data, on a basis of the obtained information.
