PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple test method for content of a harmful substance in soil that can simply estimate a concentration equivalent to an official test method in a shorter time period than the official test method for a lot of samples without using an organic solvent and can be used for checking of presence of contamination and searching for highly contaminated points. SOLUTION: The content of a harmful substance is estimated by collecting a relatively small quantity of a soil sample, adding to the sample acid or alkali aqueous solution five times or more as much as the soil sample, oscillating this for a prescribed time period of several minutes or shorter, filtering the resultant with a compound filter formed by superposing a filter sheet having pores of 0.45 μm pore diameter and a filter sheet having pores of 1 μm or more pore diameter to obtain a liquid for content testing, so as to obtain an analysis value of the liquid for content testing thus obtained, and dividing the analysis value by an elution rate in the prescribed time period obtained by an exponential function with the oscillating time period as a variable.
