PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of diagnosis using a stored ultrasonic image generated with an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus according to an embodiment includes a position detection unit, an ultrasonic image generation unit, an input unit, a reference image generation unit, and a storage processing unit. The position detection unit detects the position of an ultrasonic probe that transmits and receives ultrasonic waves to and from a subject. The ultrasonic image generation unit generates an ultrasonic image on the basis of signals obtained by the transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves by the ultrasonic probe. The input unit inputs a storage instruction to store the ultrasonic image generated by the ultrasonic image generation unit. The reference image generation unit generates a reference image in which a traveling path of the ultrasonic probe and a storage position mark indicating the position detected by the position detection unit upon the input of the storage instruction are superimposed on a body mark indicating the examined part of the subject. The storage processing unit stores the ultrasonic image to be stored under the storage instruction and the reference image in association with subject information, into a storage unit.
