<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new carbon nanohorn conjugate selectively killing microorganisms including harmful bacterium, fungus and virus while suppressing emergence of multidrug-resistant organism, drug-resistant virus, etc., by a mechanism which is entirely different from conventional antibody and antiviral agent, and an antimicrobial agent and an antiviral agent each containing the conjugate and to provide a method for sterilizing microorganisms. <;P>;SOLUTION: The present invention provides a carbon nanohorn conjugate obtained by adsorbing a phospholipid-polyethylene glycol-molecule-recognizing element conjugate onto a carbon nanohorn and an antimicrobial agent and an antiviral agent each containing the conjugate as an active ingredient and provides a microorganism-sterilizing method for killing microorganisms by bringing a microorganism into contact with the conjugate to provide a conjugate containing the captured microorganism and irradiating visual light (600 nm to 700 nm) or near-infrared light (700 nm to 2,500 nm) to the conjugate containing the captured microorganism. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
