PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable of effectively preventing the occurrence of twisting and the occurrence of lateral leakage of a liquid in its fitting state.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 10 includes: a liquid permeable surface layer 11 a leakage preventing layer 12 and an absorbing layer 13, and has a longitudinal direction Y and a width direction X orthogonal thereto. The article 10 has front constricted portions 15 and rear constricted portions 16 dividing the article 10 into a front portion A, a central portion C and a rear portion B along the longitudinal direction Y, which are provided as a pair along the longitudinal direction in both right and left side edges 17. The front portion A and the rear portion B have a substantially equal maximum width, and a maximum width of the center part C is smaller than those of the front portion A and the rear portion B.
