The present invention relates to ophthalmologic compositions having gelation ability that contain polysaccharides and modified mono and/or bi terminated amino di- or tri- block copolymers. More particularly, the compositions of the present invention are composition for use in replacing ophthalmologic structures. The compositions are useful as a vitreous body substitute, particularly a vitreous body that acts as an artificial vitreous body having a tamponade effect. Hence, the present compositions are useful in ophthalmologic surgery and in the treatment of diseases that require replacing ophthalmologic structures.
