Process and assembly to decontaminate soil from metals using single reactor vessel, imparting electrical current to suspension of solids to while mixing or agitating, adding a regeneratable extraction agent, etc.
A process effects the wet chemical separation of metals from a solid mixture within a reactor. The single reactor vessel receives a charge of the solid mixture as a suspension to which an electrical current is applied under a mixing or agitation action. An extraction agent is introduced which expels contaminants. The extraction agent is then re-generated by electrolysis for repeat use. Contaminants are removed at either the cathode or anode, preventing migration of the extraction agent to the other electrode.
