The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a functional health food comprising an extract of Adenophora japonica for preventing and treating lipid-related metabolic diseases. The extract of Adenophora japonica of the present invention has effects of improving lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism in mouse-derived adipocytes, 3T3-L1 cells, and mice fed on high-fat diets, and thus may be beneficially used as a drug or a functional health food for preventing and treating lipid-related metabolic diseases.
